If you are a first time visitor to Lima, you will find the place a complete surprise.  As you walk through San Isidro & Miraflores, (ocean-side districts), you can almost imagine that you are in southern California. There are wide streets lined with comfortable apartment blocks and houses. You will find lush lawns and swaying palm trees and despite its gloomy weather for 5 months of the year, the place wears an “alive” feel.  The best way to enjoy the city is to stay in one of the swanky hotels in San Isidro and visit the surrounding areas.

Beautiful City

The recent property boom in Lima has worked wonders on it in terms of the way it looks and has grown but there are still a number of areas that need development. However, you will find the key areas such as the historic, central district downtown, have all been very elaborately spruced-up over the last decade. What add to the allure of the city are its 3 hip districts- San Isidro, Miraflores and Baranco. While on your trip, even as you stay at one of the luxury San Isidro Hotels, you should make it a point to eke out a few days, rent a car and drive to Paracas, which is a 3-hour drive away.

Travel from San Isidro Hotels

This resort town is located in the vicinity of a massive nature preserve and you will find some interesting things to do here. One of the country’s main tourist attractions, the ancient Nazca Lines are a must visit. These 2,000-year-old immense outlines are impressive and awe-inspiring and will have to viewed from the sky. While you visit Paracas, you should make it a point to head for the Ballesta Islands. These are 2 massive rock formations that are populated by a large number of birds.

Mesmerizing Lima

Another fun thing to do here is to take a quick run of the desert in a dune buggy. The looming desert sand comes as quite a surprise to many visitors and you can then head to the dinner that is served in a tent set-up in crater nearby. You will find Lima mesmerizing to say the least, and as long as make one of the fantastic Hotels in San Isidro your base, you will find it’s quite comfortable to do all the sightseeing you want to do, in and around the city.
