Lima is an intriguing city and there is a lot a visitor can see and do here. It has a rich history and every place you visit in and around Lima has a story to tell. The place is also a paradox of all sorts with historical places standing shoulder to shoulder with high rise and luxury buildings such as hotels in Lima. It’s grey and colorful, lifeless and full of life, laid back and busy all at once. When you are here, you will find yourself immersed in the beauty and deep history of the city.  Some of the interesting places you can see here are:

Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeology, Anthropology & History Museum explores Peru’s history, from prehistoric times up to the colonial era. You will find obelisks, stone carvings, burial tombs and wrapped mummies, gold & metal work, tapestries as well as to-scale models of a range of archaeological sites on display. Once you have viewed all these ancient treasures, it’s easy to get back to some of the best hotels in Lima Peru that are in the vicinity.

Larco Museum & Amano Museum

There is a lot of pre-Columbian art on display at the Larco Museum that is situated in Lima’s Pueblo Libre District. It is housed in an 18th-century vice-royal mansion that was built just above a pyramid from the 7th century. It has chronological galleries which provide an overview of pre-Columbian history in the country and its erotic pottery displays are well-known too. Amano is the other privately-owned museum and is a short distance away from the best hotels in Lima Peru- it is a must visit. It’s a treasure house of textiles and ceramics that give you an idea about how the pre-Columbian cultures in the country progressed.

Other Places of Interest

The Historic Center of Lima at the heart of the city is choc-a-bloc with historical houses, churches, colonial balconies, museums, catacombs, the Government Palace and a lot more. A 20-minute ride from this center is the Indian Market where you can get a variety of beautiful silver ornaments, souvenirs, gifts, alpaca garments and crafts.

While you stay at one of the luxury hotels in Lima Peru, you should also make it a point to visit  the Real Felipe Museum in Callao, the Barranco district, the Larcomar & Miraflores Seawalk, the Lima Metropolitan Museum and  the Mate Museum. The city has a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing spots, cuisine and nightlife.
