Migration of website to cloud or hybrid environment has always been a tough job. A lot of effort goes into it to make the website easy to operate and yet remain useful and attractive to the end user, so that the business keeps going. However, migration of website from local to cloud is now getting easier due to several advancements in the technology and specifically Google Analytics, which play a crucial role in this process.

The primary reason for migration of website from local to cloud is mainly due to the increase in bandwidth limits that every organization can get access to these days. Businesses that are looking forward to save on bandwidth and thus have high expectations from their service providers end up with migration of the website to cloud more difficult as the process tends to take longer time. However, some companies which have a well-established infrastructure can move smoothly into migrating to the cloud as the process goes quite smoothly and most of the processes can be automated.

Another reason for website migration to cloud is mainly because there is a lack of expertise on the part of the organization. Website management can be a daunting task for any individual with low technical knowledge. Even though most of the basic migration services do not require any technical knowledge on the part of the client organizations, some organizations are still wary about migrating their website files into cloud-based infrastructure. The main reason for this is lack of expertise in the subject. Organizations with less technical knowledge prefer to outsource the entire website migration process to low cost third party organizations who have a strong working knowledge on this topic. However, when the migration is complete, the organization needs to spend a lot of money on setting up the new infrastructure and hiring new staff for maintenance.

Migrating the website into the cloud requires a lot of expertise and proper planning. If you are handling the project yourself then there are chances of getting it wrong. There are two main ways of migrating your website into the cloud and these are - either using a pre-built platform by using a third party or by migrating all your content using a local copy of your site. With the built or local tools, there is a great risk of having some of your content modified or deleted. This could lead to a disastrous outcome such as losing your data or even downtime of the site.

In local site migrating process, if the developer does not have any experience in the field then you can easily make mistakes in the implementation of the code. Most of the times the content migrations fail to properly implement the required changes in the required manner. The biggest problem with the content migration plan is that it is often required to start from scratch once again.

On the other hand in case of using the migration expert, you need to pay a token for the migrations. The migration expert will be responsible for creating a migration blueprint or custom made migration plan. These plans are very helpful for the organizations as they can prepare a list of all the changes that need to be done in the website. Migrations using a new server can also help you save money as the old content can be upgraded without any problems at all. The migration expert can even merge some of your files at the time of migrations to avoid any problem.

Even if you are migrating from a dedicated server to the cloud servers or vice versa, there can be some issues that can reduce the overall productivity. The main cause for the reduction in the productivity is the downtime. In case of website migration services, you will also be provided with the tools that can monitor the website and can even perform the daily or weekly scan. In case the tools are not used properly then there is a greater chance of the downtime of the site.

There are certain things that should be kept in mind before getting started in the migration process. These include the migration budget, the type of technology that is used for the migration, the time period for which the site needs to be migrated and the tools available to monitor the progress. These tips can surely help you during the migration of the website process.
