The popularity is understandable, as they are accurate, reliable, and exceptionally modular. Hundreds of companies have responded to that demand, flooding the market with AR 15s. Those rifles range from entry-level no-frills workhorses to high-end masterpieces of firearms engineering like the Knights Armament Company’s (KAC) “SR 15” models. If you have ever wondered what distinguishes a high-end model from its counterparts and if one is worth investing in, you are not alone.

That comfort level is accomplished with features like ergonomic grips, the rifle’s balance, and a build that reduces felt recoil.

The High-End AR 15 Modularity

The modularity of AR 15s is arguably the most noteworthy and most important characteristic of the platform. That modularity allows “one gun” to switch from shooting 22 LR to 50 Beowulf cartridges within minutes. It also allows users to add, remove, and swap out a massive selection of compatible accessories, optics, and parts. Higher-end AR 15s are sometimes credited with being more reliably and effectively modular than some entry-level models.

The High-End AR 15—Is It for You?

That is a question only you can answer. It is a matter of your AR 15 plans and priorities. Doing some research and reading reviews before buying any gun is always wise. However, most of those no-frills entry-level AR 15s are wholly dependable, serviceable firearms. If you are going to be training with your rifle, running it through drills, or otherwise shooting it competitively, a high-end model makes sense.
