The most popular materials for setting up the tile constitute Mastic, Thinset Mortar, and Epoxy. It depends on the kind of installation that decides the setting materials for tile.

But before you start any tile installation, you must be aware of the details of the material you can choose. Mastic is latex or solvent-based adhesive. It comes in airtight containers buckets and you need not mix anything with it. You can use it immediately as you get the same home. It is considered best for dry applications. You must also know that do not use Mastic for showers and floors.

If the same gets, the water re-emulsifies the adhesive base, which is not good to keep your tiles on the wall. It is stickier than the thin-set mortar. You can use it on non-wet areas like backsplash, wainscot, or fireplace, or an area that is not exposed to water or moisture. Also, prefer using it on tiles smaller than 6 inches square.

Thinset mortar can be used for shower walls and any floor. You can get the same in bags. It needs mixing with water. It is also called mud. It is a combination of sand, portland cement, lime, and many other materials too. It is known to be a preferred setting material for tiles. You need to mix the same properly as per the directions to make it stable and uncompromised. After you mix water, leave it to set for some time so that the chemicals start to interact and become workable. Then, remix before using.

Epoxy is a chemical-based glue. It is not so user-friendly. It is mixed with other materials to make a stiff and thick putty-like substance. Many exterior applications use it like swimming pools and glass tiles.

Thinset mortar seems to be the best of all.
