Greatest Tool for All Americans

Together with any hesitation I present to you the everyman's gun... that the Ruger 10/22. If I had just one option for an all round rifle this are the only one, hands down.

I'm not talking about taking down big game, but for its cost, simplicity of maintenance and cost of ammo you can't get a better bargain. Now granted you won't be hauling house 200 pounds of venison with this gun, but any bunny, squirrel, groundhog or the like will be a very simple plate to catch with your Ruger.

A gun is only effective if you've got the ammo to take and understand how to use this gun! When a box of 550 rounds prices only (that less than 4 cents around!) You're able to get a whole lot of practice for very little cost. Try doing that with a 30-06 that would run you about 0 to the exact same number of rounds. All you need is a small training in the local selection or in your big backyard.

The conventional Ruger American gun 308 has been in production since 1964 and still going strong today. It uses a 10 round rotary magazine that fits completely into the stock but has plenty of options from a 5 round mag to 50 round drums. The basic takedown and cleaning just require a screwdriver for disassembly.

Now granted that a .22LR rifle is not going to do a higher-powered rifle might or a 20 or even 12ga shotgun, however, if you're able to shoot a 22 consistently and correctly you should have no trouble stepping into a bigger bore. For general pest control, small game hunting, and a low-cost training tool there is not equal.

There is only 1 drawback when transitioning to a bigger caliber rifle. Clearly the.22LR around is much smaller than any other hunting cartridge. And due to this, the ballistics of projectile trajectory differ greatly over gains in space. There are not any issues from 25-75 yards with a.22 and possibly up to 100 yards, but how a bullet acts out of a smaller caliber gun is quite different from a larger one. This is where scope knowledge and use are important when jumping from 1 gun to another, along with a small modification and practice.
