Avoiding Bad Teams in Daily Fantasy Basketball

If you are unfamiliar with what a DFL is, then allow me to introduce you to the concept of daily fantasy basketball. Daily fantasy basketball is the concept of picking athletes in any sport and placing them on your fantasy team. The catch, however, is that you must have the players selected for your team in daily fantasy basketball leagues. This article will talk about why daily fantasy basketball is an excellent way to find value and to get into the world of investing in sports.

First of all, when you place a player in a daily fantasy basketball league, they are in a league similar to the real thing. This means that they can be bought and sold like any other athlete in real life. You will receive draft picks, trades, and other information and you will have the ability to use these items to your benefit. For example, if you are using an ESPN fantasy basketball league, you will have a wide array of players to choose from, including some that are injury risks and some that might just help your team. This is important because in real life, a player may be playing great one week and suddenly drop off the radar the next.

As a result, it's a great way to stay up on who should be in your fantasy lineup each day and who should be waived and moved to another team. Another benefit of daily fantasy basketball is that you can compare players on different teams. For example, let's say that you own a Cleveland Cavs team in a daily fantasy basketball league. That team has a number 1 star in Kevin Love. However, they also have a number 6 player who is very unproductive, Lebron James.

If you had placed Lebron in your starting five in your daily fantasy basketball game, would you take him out of the starting lineup and put Lebron at the four position? Chances are, you probably wouldn't have taken Lebron out of the starting five because you are so desperate for points. You know that in daily fantasy, the point production is going to be there regardless of the players on other teams. Therefore, by placing Lebron at the four position, you are still taking advantage of the powerful Cavs starting five and are giving yourself the best chance to win each night.

If you don't think that Lebron is that great of a choice, just wait until you see what happens when he's on the floor with the starters. In no time at all, he will establish himself as a legitimate star and you will be able to field an entirely different starting five. Don't worry about losing starting lineups every night. All you have to do is stick with what works. The fact that Lebron has already proven himself to be a high caliber player, you can rest easy. He'll be back soon enough.

Another player that is worth a daily fantasy pick is Andre Iguins. His contract and the way he was traded to the Bucks are a perfect example of why daily fantasy basketball players should stay away from dealing with a bad team via trade. It's not the end of the world to drop a huge name like Iguins just to acquire a nice young player that will-most likely-be a good three or four years from now. Iguins will most likely bounce back and prove that he is still a valuable part of his team next year. So trust in your daily fantasy basketball picks and stay away from big name busts.

Last but not least, we have the seemingly out-of-here-and-gone star Chris Paul. He has played well lately but hasn't been able to put it all together. I'm expecting major improvement in the near future and hope that he is already one of the best players in the league by the time he gets the chance to prove it. There is a lot to like about CP3, but the only real way to make him fantasy worthy is if he is playing with a stellar defensive team. If your team doesn't score enough points, expect CP3 to bust.

So there you have it. Three solid reasons to avoid dealing with bad teams. If you need a good alternative, check out my weekly articles. They are packed with picks for daily fantasy basketball leagues. Good luck!
