Base Metals Roundup: China Copper Wire Price Down, LME Aluminum Up

Current Copper Prices

Decreasing 0.9 percent made Chinese copper wire the biggest mover of the day on March 29, 2013. Chinese copper bar finished the day down 0.8 percent. The cash price of Chinese copper fell 0.8 percent as well. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained steady.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little movement on Thursday. For the fifth day in a row, the Japanese copper cash price remained essentially flat. The price of US copper producer grade 102 showed little movement on Thursday. The price of US copper producer grade 110 saw little change in its price on Thursday.

After a 0.6 percent increase, the copper 3-month price finished the day on the LME at ,613 per metric ton. The cash price of primary copper saw a 0.2 percent decline on the LME to ,582 per metric ton.

Current Aluminum Prices

On March 29, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was the cash price of primary aluminum, which saw a 0.7 percent increase on the LME to ,881 per metric ton. This increase comes after the price fell for the two previous days. After falling for two days, the 3-month price of aluminum rose 0.5 percent on the LME to ,910 per metric ton.

The Indian aluminum cash price saw little change in its price yesterday.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The cash price of Chinese aluminum declined 0.3 percent. Chinese aluminum scrap saw little change in its price yesterday. Chinese aluminum billet held its value on Thursday. The price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat.
