Why different regions matter when choosing a VPN

When it comes to choosing a VPN, there are a number of things you need to consider. As we discussed on our blog post last week, the primary concern of any customer should be the reliability of the VPN provider and the transparency of their business. You trust a VPN provider with all your data. You should know who they are.

However, not all VPNs are created equal. As well as looking at the level of encryption and the value for money, it’s important to consider how many different regions your VPN offers you.

When you use a VPN, you are given an IP address to “borrow” in order to keep your own hidden from the internet. This effectively makes you invisible online, and therefore untrackable.

If your VPN offers several different regions to choose from, this means that you can “borrow” an IP address from one of those regions, appearing to the internet as if you are in that region.

Of course, this offers a number of benefits. It means that you can access region-specific content from the country that you appear to be in, as well as online shopping as if you are in that country. When you’re searching for flights or other travel deals, this can mean that you get better prices and greater availability, which can save you money. If you’re surfing in a country with restrictive content laws, you can bypass firewalls and access some banned websites.

Because all the websites and apps you use will see SurfEasy and not you, you can access your home country’s content even when you travel. Stay up to date with the latest sport, news and entertainment even when you’re away!

It also means that you can switch regions to access the best connection for your physical location. This means that if servers in your country are ever suffering from a heavy load, you can switch to another region that’s being used less, and therefore enjoy a faster connection. The more regions your VPN company can offer, the better your experience of that service will be.

At SurfEasy, we offer our customers 13 different regions to choose from. These include the UK, the US, Australia, Brazil and Spain—and we’ve recently added services in Italy, Japan and Norway too.  We’re working hard to make our service ever more global, and as we continue to grow, we’ll be thrilled to offer more and more regions to our customers. As well as offering online freedom, a greater number of regions means a faster service. We don’t believe you should have to sacrifice super-fast browsing to maintain your online security and privacy.

When considering a new VPN, take a look at what regions are offered—and how reliable their service is in every region they offer.

We’re proud of being the most reliable VPN provider available, and we’re constantly striving to spread our service further.
