Similarly, there are various types of media used for abrasive blasting. White aluminum oxide is a strong and reusable abrasive that helps to clean and penetrate metal. Before painting a metal surface, this medium is often used. Aluminum oxide grit is a standard blasting media that is often used for grinding, polishing, and surface cleaning. Crushed glass grit is also an abrasive that uses recycled glass bottles to eliminate coal tar, epoxy, paint, and vinyl coatings from materials.

Media blasting often uses a pressurized stream of abrasive for the wrought iron surface like railing, etc. The same is called wrought iron blasting. In this process, abrasion is used to remove rust and layers of paint effectively.

If a gentle abrasive is preferred, then Acrylic is used for sensitive surfaces. For aggressive cleaning, steel or foundry metals are used. It is considered ideal for metal surface coating preparation.

Since abrasive media is inexpensive and reusable, it is a preferred medium. It also efficiently cleans the surfaces much better and faster than other traditional modes of cleaning.
