Choose your travel supplies wisely, for the kind of journey you plan ahead

Whenever you plan to travel, for adventure or leisure, it is best to think ahead of what travel supplies you may need and purchase them on time. However relaxed you may feel about travelling, problems can appear and it is best to anticipate them and prepare. This way you can keep on being carefree even when confronted with the nastiest situations. Take insect repellent clothing for instance. This form of clothing is a must have if you plan a journey in hot and humid areas where mosquitoes are a problem. Tropical countries are delightful, but insect bites can make you want to run away even from the most beautiful places in the world.

Before one plans what to pack for a journey, one should purchase the first of the travel supplies: the luggage. The luggage requires a suitable size and weight for the kind of journey you have in mind. For example, it needs to be a backpack if you plan to hike. It should accommodate all you need to carry with you. A rucksack could be perfect for this purpose. It can carry all the essentials, sit comfortably on your back and last throughout the journey without breaking or getting soaking wet when it rains. There are also other luggage items of various shapes and sizes that one can choose: large bags for comfortable trips with few space restrictions, small and easy to carry ones for short and relaxed vacations in urban areas, deceivingly large bags for the adventurous backpackers and so many, many more options.

The difficult part is to choose what to take with you when you have limited space and too many “essential”. This is where you have to choose wisely....

If you choose a tropical destination, there are travel supplies required to keep off mosquitoes and other insects. Make no mistake – the climate of the tropical regions is the ideal breeding ground for all sorts of dangerous insects and they can cause serious harm to your skin. Hence, you need enough to last throughout your journey. An insect repellent cream and/or spray MUST be there as part of your travel supplies. You should also carry a foldable mosquito net. There are some excellent items that can be folded easily and they hardly occupy any space.

Most importantly, you should have insect repellent clothing with you. These items of clothing are specially designed to ward off mosquitoes and other insects while you go about your day and regular activities. This is achieved through the ingenious designs of these items of clothing – some are made of mesh materials that the insects cannot penetrate and you continue to feel comfortable, some are full sleeved shirts and t-shirts (or even trousers) that help you keep your body covered and fully protected. However, along with the above mentioned insect repellent clothing, you should also carry socks. If you venture out into a jungle, the leeches need to be kept away and socks are those items you do not want to have missing.

Apart from insect repellent clothing, there are other items too – you would need a supply of medicines as part of your baggage. You should also carry pen lights and security items and tents (should you plan to camp out).

Planning a trip is a lot of fun and if you do it wisely, you will not feel sorry later on. Areas with tropical climate are different from anything you experienced in the UK and being prepared is a must. There is more to these areas than mosquito bites and insect repellent clothing and is not the only thing to keep in mind. Risks come with later regrets and you do not want to have them. So make sure you read about other people’s experiences battling with nature, listen to their advice and purchase your travel supplies from quality shops, such as the one which is warmly recommended in this article’s resource box.

Your travel supplies will be different depending on the trip you are planning to make. Outdoor trips and vacations in exotic areas require a lot more than insect repellent clothing.
