Advice On Upholstery Fabric For Your Chairs

If you are looking to get your living room, dining room, or even bedroom chairs reupholstered, you should know exactly what fabric will be best for the type of chair, and exactly how sturdy each fabric is. There are a number of different fabrics out there to choose from, but you have to be smart about what one to choose for a number of different reasons; stain protection, pets, wear and tear, dirt and dust. There are some that simply do not work if you have pets in the house, and others that are so strong, they can stand the test of time. Finding the right one, will be easy when you know what to look for.

One of the commonly used fabrics for chairs is suede. It provides a soft touch when sat upon and is fairly easy to clean. While it may attract dirt and dust, that isn’t something that a lint roller couldn’t handle. It is not a great fabric to have if you have cats with claws, as they will start to tear the fabric pretty easily.

If you are looking for a fabric that will keep cat hair, dog hair, dust, and stains off of it, a faux leather or real leather is a great choice. Because of the slick nature of the fabric, hair will not get ingrained into it, and you can simply brush it off. If you are going to go with leather, you may need to treat it so it will not be easily stained though.

Linen is also a great choice for a chair fabric because it is soft, it is easy to clean, and it can be stain protected as well. It is a lightweight fabric, so it will not be very heavy duty. It would be great of chairs that get little use, or very light use.

Tweed is always a great choice because it is heavy duty and it will last for years if you do not have cats that like to claw at your chairs. It will not make you sweat like leather can have a tendency to do, so it is great if you have a warmer climate outside.

Finding a great fabric when you reupholster your chairs will not be difficult if you know exactly what it is that you do and do not want. Making sure you cater to the likes of pets in the house, you will no longer need to worry about them ruining a freshly redone chair that you spent money on. Find the right fabric before you order and you will be doubly happy when you get your chairs in your home.
