What Is USB Type C? Explained!

Posted by thebestmonitors on April 23rd, 2021

USB-C is the emerging standard for charging and transferring data. Right now, it's included in devices like the latest laptops, phones, and tablets, and - over time - it will spread to just about anything that currently uses an older, bigger USB connector.

Although the USB-C specification was first released in 2014, it wasn't until last year that the technology caught on. It is now formed to be a real alternative not only to old USB standards, but also to others like Thunderbolt and DisplayPort. Tests are also underway to introduce a new USB audio standard with USB-C as a possible replacement for the 3.5mm audio jack. USB-C is closely linked to other new standards, such as USB 3.1 for faster speeds and USB Power Delivery to improve power delivery over USB connections.
