Importance of High Quality Hose Reels

Fire hose reels are at the forefront when it comes to fire fighting. They are the first line of defence and allow the fire fighters to get access to a free-flow of water during a crisis. 

Fire hose reels are easy to use and offer an unlimited and uninterrupted supply of water  during the early stages of fire fighting. Fire hoses usually are as long as a non-kinking tube and are permanently attached to  the source of water.  

Here are some important points to ensure that it functions properly: 

• Make sure the water is turned on before you start putting out the fire as there’s always a stopcock located at the base of the hose reel. 

• If possible, it is advisable to have two people to unroll the hose reel. One person should be in control of the nozzle and the another one in control of the length of the hose. 

• It’s recommended that you always direct the water to the base of the fire and never on the top of the flames. 

• If the fire goes out of control, it’s better to evacuate the place. Hose Reels are designed to put out the fires at the early stages of emergency and not when the inferno is out of control.
