How does the type of rug affect the type of cleaning it needs?

Rug making is an ancient craft. The modern rugs are all direct descendants of a few basic styles, although modern manufacturing has added a lot of variations in styles.

These are a few of the most common types of rugs:

•    Braided Rugs
Braided rugs are the types of rugs that are made with around three to four strips of fabric in a crossover construction, literally like hair braids. Braiding starts from the center of the rug, working outwards in to a final shape.
•    Hooked rugs
Rugs are also traditionally made by hooking the loops of fabric or yarn. The loops are pulled together to the underside of the material.
•    Woven rugs

Woven rugs can be handmade and machine made, they include both pile rugs and flat rugs. The construction type depends how tightly the rugs are tied. The tighter the knots of the rug, the more detailed design is possible. Some woven rugs are real works of art.

As you can see, each type of rug has its own characteristics. Cleaning rugs, however, isn’t just about cleaning. It’s about making sure that construction is in good shape. All that’s needed to demolish a good rug is hard, sharp, grit. Grit actually cuts fibers and forming deposits of destructive materials right inside the rug. That’swhat good, properly done, cleaning prevents.
