batch of media today for Square Enix?s Final Fantasy XV

While Final Fantasy 15 doesn’t have an official release date yet, we’re getting a ton of new information about the upcoming game. Among the info that emerged from Gamescom is that a Leviathan can certainly be summoned in the game. The catch is that these entities are going to be summoned only by female characters. That little detail underlines what has been whispered about for a while now, that there might be some special guest characters inserted into the game.

Nova Crystallis sat down at Gamescom with Hajime Tabata and asked him about other details about the Leviathans. The website asked him whether this mystery female character might be the Dragoon. Tabata denied that but wasn’t willing to say who the female character might be, so we’re still going to have to keep guessing on that one. In other news, Kingdom Hearts 3 has been getting plenty of buzz since it was announced at E3 but the lack of any new info from Gamescom was disappointing.

Epic Games put together a highlight reel of some games that are using the Unreal Engine 4. Included in the video are some clips of Kingdom Hearts 3 that will certainly get your blood pumping and excited when this game finally hits the market. For now you’re going to have to make do with this video as we wait for word on when Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to be released.

We have a small but interesting batch of media today for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV, showing off some drastically different things than we’re used to seeing.
First, we have a batch of new screenshots from last week’s “Dawn” trailer, giving us a glimpse into the story, 15 years prior to current events. But we also have this new “malboro” trailer that you should watch, like, now

By now, we’re all used to seeing the areas from the FFXV: Episode Duscae demo and a couple others, so it’s nice to finally get a glimpse of a new area. Despite Square Enix branding the trailer as being about the malboro, it’s the scenery that’s possibly the most interesting. The mix of nature intertwined with now-unused, rusting technology and man-made structures, all set in a terrain that’s very rough and more “vertical” than we’ve seen so far creates an environment that looks like it’ll be fun to explore.

Also, yes, a big, giant, game-ending malboro is also cool to see. I have a feeling these things will be hard to take down without getting breathed on.

Final Fantasy XV is coming to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, possibly in 2016. We may have a more solid release date after PAX Prime at the end of this month.
