You're One Step Away From That Pretty Smile: A Guide To Dental Care

Often when you smile or talk, the things that keep hitting your head are; how was my smile? I hope there wasn't any bad breath while I was talking, and many more. But you still tend to neglect what you should follow daily; a proper dental care routine. This is because we never think of mouth with that care like we think of our other body parts, say getting fine legs, good smooth hand, and smooth skin, gorgeous hair to name some. We are least concerned about the mouth unless we fall into pits of tooth decay, gum decay, bad breath, or a foul smell from the mouth, etc. Only then we come to think of our mouth, but by that time, it's too late, and the damage has been done. Though the injuries can be cured, still. And then starts a tiresome process of getting everything back to its place and, of course, the cost that comes lingering around with pediatric dentist naperville.

What a dental care routine asks you is nothing much, just 15 minutes from your day-to-day life schedule, and in turn gifts you the most valuable contribution: your smile.

Most of us don't understand that any bacterial attack on the mouth doesn't remain limited to there; instead, it affects other body organs. This is because our mouth is the entry terminal of our body. Our digestive and respiratory tracts are connected to the mouth, and as you all know, these two constitute a significant part of our body. So, when bacteria invade the mouth, it also gets carried away to these tracts and can worsen.

Studies have shown that bacteria in your mouth due to improper dental care can cause severe issues like Endocarditis, cardiovascular diseases, and sometimes even pregnancy complications. So, you see how a tiny little ignorance can cause havoc in your body.

Saliva is a natural cleanser for your mouth as it readily washes away the acids that these bacteria produce and prevents them from reaching further inside your body.

LET'S TAKE A LOOK INTO OUR DENTAL CARE: A GUIDE TO HEALTHY TEETH AND PRETTY SMILES.

  • Make sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day, after lunch and post-dinner.
  • Make sure to floss your teeth once daily.
  • Avoid foods that involve too many free sugars and fall into the habit of having fruits and vegetables and foods rich in fiber.
  • Do make water as your main drink in your schedule.
  • After having light snacks or so, make sure to do a small gargle to wash away the bits of food stuck, if any. Else these become a cause of concern over time.
  • Avoid chewing or intake of any form of tobacco.
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol.
  • Use fluoride-rich toothpaste, but remember, too much fluoride can also mottle your teeth.
  • Change your toothbrushes after every three months.
  • Use soft-bristled brushes as hard bristles can damage the protective covering, i.e., the enamel of your teeth.

Most of the practices mentioned above don't ask you to allow them special hours but give valuable returns. And it is not that arduous task to spare 15 minutes. So, next time you think of a pretty smile of yours, make sure you follow a proper dental care routine.
