Herbal Treatments For Migraine Headaches

If you're suffering from debilitating, sometimes unbearable, headaches brought on by stress, tension, anxiety, or depression, chances are you haven't already tried out the many herbal treatments for migraine headaches currently available on the market today. In fact, many people have used these natural remedies for a variety of medical conditions and they're still readily available at most of the local herbal shops in your neighborhood. And even if you don't live near any of these specialty shops, you can probably find an herbal remedy you can take on your own without much trouble. In most cases, you can simply take one of the following herbs -- or a combination of them -- and watch it happen. That's right; just by taking one of these or a combination of them, you can completely rid yourself of your migraine headache problems. But first, let's examine exactly what causes migraines in the first place.

One of the most common treatments for Migraine Headache is ginkgo biloba. Ginkgo is a tree that grows in the rain forests of South America and parts of Southeast Asia. Its dark green leaves give it the name -- and its dark red and black berries are the main ingredient of this supplement. The ginkgo berries contain a compound called flavonoids, which are known to have antioxidant properties. As such, when taken as an effective supplement, ginkgo can boost the immune system and help your body to fight off illnesses and infections whenever they do strike.

Another herbal remedy for migraines is the herbal remedy known as feverfew. Feverfew is commonly used as a pain reliever for arthritic and rheumatic complaints; it can also relieve headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Feverfew is taken in capsules, either sublingually (under your tongue) or orally (through a dietary supplement).

The herb called nano is another herbal remedy for Migraine Headache relief. It comes from the root of a large plant with a bark made up of many small roots. This herbal supplement has been used to treat a wide range of conditions, including fevers, infections, inflammations, stomach disorders, circulatory problems, and more. It can even be used to treat minor headaches.

There are other excellent herbal treatments for migraines that you should check into. One of these is black cohosh, which has been used for centuries to treat fevers, stomach issues, and other maladies. But it is particularly helpful for headaches, because black cohosh works by stimulating the body's natural healing process. Black cohosh may be even more helpful if you take it with extra zinc, which can help regulate blood flow. For the best results, combine it with some of the other herbal remedies mentioned above.

Another excellent choice for headaches is Ginkgo Biloba. This herb is well-known throughout the Mediterranean world, but it was only recently that people began to take it for its powerful health benefits. Ginkgo biloba has been shown to reduce stress levels, improve circulation, increase energy and mood, and improve alertness. Because of this, many people believe that it is the safest herb for migraines. And for good reason--it's very effective!

Feverfew is one of the herbal treatments for migraine headaches. It comes from a type of evergreen shrub known as the nightshade plant. Feverfew is a traditional remedy for headaches in many parts of the world, but recent scientific studies have shown that it may also be effective against migraines. Feverfew is often recommended as a gentle, side-effect-free treatment for headaches, especially for children. For this reason, many people consider it to be the most mild headache treatment available.

One other option for headaches is chamomile. Chamomile has a history of use as a natural remedy for headaches, including those that are common to women. It has both antispasmodic and diuretic properties, which can help reduce tension. It is also believed to be an herbal remedy for migraines, and some recommend it for arthritis and menstrual problems, as well. However, because there is not enough research to confirm its effectiveness as migraine headache treatments, chamomile is not included in any natural supplements used for this condition.
