Alcoa Inc. spent .3 million in the first quarter to lobby the government on issues ranging from cap-and-trade to defense appropriations, according to a recent disclosure report.

The total compared with 0,000 that the aluminum manufacturing giant spent lobbying in the year-ago quarter and 0,000 it spent in the fourth quarter.

From January through March, Alcoa lobbied on cap-and-trade issues, including allocation credit for early action and international trade implications. Other issues included defense appropriations related to the naval and air programs and hydroelectric generating facilities.

In addition to the House of Representatives and the Senate, Alcoa lobbied the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, according to the April 20 report filed with the House clerk's office.
