The Exploratorium was the idea of Frank Oppenheimer. Frank was a cattle rancher, a professor basically a high school teacher & an experimental physicist at different times. While he was teaching at a university, Frank established a “library of experiments” that assisted his learners to discover scientific phenomena at their own speed, following their own inquisitiveness. Worried about the society’s lack of indulgence in science and technology, Frank used this model to construct the Exploratorium, with the belief that visitors would be able to learn about natural phenomena and also develop confidence in their capability to appreciate the world around them. This was a revolutionary indication for a science museum in the year 1969 when the Exploratorium was opened.
