The Benefits of Eating Healthy Food

If you've ever heard the words "food" and "diet", you're not alone. For most people, the two terms are used interchangeably. But which is the proper way to think about it? Food, material comprising sugar, protein, fat, and others necessary to an organism's existence to supply energy and vital organs and growth within an organism's body. Food is divided up into three basic categories: plant-based foods, animal-based foods, and fungi or micro-organisms such as for example yeast.

Vitamin A is the most abundant vitamin in plant sources (that is, plants only produce vitamin A if they are exposed to sunlight). Vitamin C is found in citric fruits, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes, leafy green vegetables, nuts, seeds, and oil. Since vitamin C is not synthesized by your body, it should be ingested via food or supplementation in order to achieve the benefits.

The benefits of eating healthy foods extend beyond the simple enhancement of one's health. By including more fruit and veggies in your diet, you can dramatically reduce your risk of many different types of cancer. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, fruits and vegetables may be the most important ingredient in the prevention of cancer. Furthermore, eating fruit and veggies will improve your overall well-being. As you can see, there are many different forms of health benefits connected with including more fruits and vegetables in your diet. sera77
