Build dynamic and scalable web apps with AngularJS and NodeJS

Websites have been present since the dawn of internet. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) has been the core of such websites. In the early days websites were designed to be static in nature. They consisted of several pages and contained minimal design and coding. With advancement in technology, they soon became dynamic. Most of the websites being hosted on the internet are dynamic websites. The dynamic nature of these websites is attributed to JavaScript and CSS. The web development industry grew rapidly and has seen many innovations in the recent years. The multi-page websites are now being replaced by single page applications/websites (SPA). With single page applications, HTML, CSS and JavaScript are all served from a single page load compared to traditional methods.

 HTML5 and Angular JavaScript have become very popular for front-end development. Angular JavaScript is a framework developed and maintained by Google since 2009. It acts as an extension to HTML by providing it with dynamic capabilities. It helps manipulation of DOM, while separating the client side from that of the server. It provides this by data binding in two ways; by updating view when model changes and updating model when view changes. One of the powerful features of Angular JavaScript is the directives which help create reusable components. It also provides deep linking that could be used by users to bookmark and email links. Other components include AngularJS scope, controller, modules, routes, services and filters. This computing language is both injectable and testable which makes it easy to carry out enterprise level testing. Angular JavaScript apps can be run on the server with the help of Node.JS that is used for creating scalable network apps.

  Node.JS or JavaScript node is a cross platform application that runs on the server similar to PHP. The advantage is that it is a non-blocking language unlike PHP. It is both lightweight and efficient and hence preferred for real time applications which are data intensive. Unlike traditional methods, JavaScript node functions on a single thread thereby reducing the usage of RAM. It facilitates several thousand concurrent connections through non-blocking input/output calls. However, using this computing language for CPU intensive applications would nullify its benefits since it uses a single thread. Another advantage of Node.JS is its built-in support for tools like NPM that could be used for package management. Express and mongo are the most popular NPM modules used along with Angular JavaScript and JavaScript node.
