Molecular Hydrogen Potential for Preventive and Remedial Applications

Posted by H2 Life on May 11th, 2021

Persistent oxidative stress is a significant contributor to the development of most lifestyle disorders, including cancer and the ageing process. Acute oxidative stress induces tissue damage on a direct basis. Antioxidants have had limited therapeutic efficacy, despite the clinical value of oxidative harm. We believe that molecular Hydrogen (H2) from Hydrogen Inhalation Machine may be used as a “novel” antioxidant in both preventative and therapeutic applications.

As a possible antioxidant, H2 has a range of benefits:

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, accounting for approximately 75% of its mass; however, it is not found in its monoatomic form on Earth but in water and organic and inorganic compounds.  Hydrogen gas (H2) is a colourless, odourless, bland, and highly combustible diatomic gas with the molecular formula H2. The amount of hydrogen gas in the atmosphere is less than one part per million.

In lack of synergists or at body temperature, Hydrogen is less active and acts as an inert gas. At room temperature, it does not react with most compounds, including oxygen gas. Only at temperatures above 527°C is H2 gas flammable, and only in the explosive range of H2 concentrations can it ignite through a rapid chain reaction with oxygen.

It diffuses quickly into tissues and cells and is gentle enough not to disrupt metabolic redox reactions or impact reactive oxygen species (ROS) that play a role in cell signalling, so there should be few side effects from consuming it. Inhaling hydrogen gas through Hydrogen Inhalation Machine, consuming H2-dissolved water (hydrogen water), having a hydrogen bath, injecting H2-dissolved saline (hydrogen saline), dropping hydrogen saline into the eye, and of intestinal H2 output by bacteria are all ways to ingest or absorb H2.

Furthermore, in addition to its effects on oxidative stress, H2 has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergic properties. It controls a variety of gene expressions and protein phosphorylation, but the molecular mechanisms underlying the dramatic effects of very small quantities of H2 are still being studied.

Oxidative Stress Causes

Elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) have a high cellular oxidizing capacity, which leads to oxidative stress. Acute oxidative stress condition can be triggered by a number of factors, including ischemia and reperfusion. While chronic oxidative stress is generally accepted as one of the causes of most lifestyle-related disorders, several antioxidant supplements have been shown to increase mortality rather than prevent cancer, myocardial infarction, and atherosclerosis. As a result, it is critical to be aware of side effects when devising an effective antioxidant for cancer prevention, myocardial infarction, and atherosclerosis.

How can Molecular Hydrogen help?

Hydrogen Inhalation Machine has many benefits as inhaling molecular Hydrogen as prospective antioxidant comes with minimal side effects: it is mild enough not to upset metabolic redox reactions or ROS, which play a role in cell signalling. It also has beneficial distribution properties due to its physical ability to enter biomembranes and disperse across barriers into the cellular components.
