Volunteer Abroad in Tanzania on Vacation Tanzania is an East African country full of beautiful music and rich traditions. Many think volunteering in Tanzania or any other country during their vacation to be a waste of their free time, but nothing could be further from the truth. You fill find over 100 ethnic groups in Tanzania, each having their own traditions language and arts, yet each also speaks the national language of Kiswahili and also English as a tertiary language. However, it is not a rich country even though it has been independent for around 45 years. With regard to volunteers, Tanzania welcomes anybody willing to help them, and if you volunteer abroad in Tanzania you will not only be offering them your services and teaching them, but will also learn a great deal about yourself. Teaching English, health care education and working in a child care centre are all ways in which you can spend your time helping the people of this great African nation, and they deserve it considering the welcome they will give you. You will be able to learn all that these wonderful people can teach you, while also offering them something in return. Let's have a look at the town you will be working in: Arusha is a base for safaris to the Serengeti and Mount Kilimanjaro. From here you can set off for Mount Meru, the Ngoprongoro Crater and the Olduvai Gorge. Taking them all in is what is known as the 'Northern Safari Circuit', and something that very few people experience. You can also visit Arusha's own small national park, lying between Mounts Meru and Kilimanjaro (the highest mountain in Africa). So you have plenty of incentive for choosing here to volunteer, Tanzania being one of the more beautiful and awe-inspiring countries in East Africa. You can come here on vacation, but what would you be doing if you were a volunteer abroad in Tanzania? Volunteer in Tanzania in Health Care and Education You could choose to work in a health care centre in Tanzania. Health care education is very important all across Africa and this is a superb opportunity for you to use your skills to help Africans in need of it. If you are studying medicine, then as a volunteer in Tanzania you will be able to get hands-on experience in dealing with a wide variety of medical conditions and diseases. You will learn about the treatments used here for common conditions and also about the healthcare issues that Tanzania is facing, along with much of the rest of East Africa. You will be working alongside healthcare professionals and doctors in treating Tanzanians, young and old, who are suffering a large number of different conditions. You will leave here, not only with a better understanding of how to treat large numbers of people, but also of the strength of the human spirit in adversity, because while you can go home after your vacation, this IS their home! Volunteer Teaching English in Tanzania Any volunteer in Tanzania that speaks English can help the youngsters here to speak and read the language. Being able to speak, read and write English is of significant advantage to them when seeking employment, and essential if they are to go to university. While the latter may be beyond most Tanzanian kids living in villages and small towns, speaking English would at least give them the hope of being able to achieve it. You would be working alongside their regular teachers in schools and orphanages. Volunteer Working in a Child Care Centre Tanzania has many child care centres, special needs schools and orphanages where any volunteer abroad in Tanzania would be welcome. Whether you are on vacation or on a gap year, here by yourself, or part of a family group, then your help will be well rewarded with the satisfaction and glow inside that you get when you help people less fortunate than yourself. Tanzania, like most African countries, is home to a large number of orphanages for kids that have been abandoned by their parents, abused, or simply made orphans. You can help them by simply helping in the centres, helping with their education or homework or even just with the cleaning and meal preparation. Any of these activities will give the permanent staff more time to help the children, and also perhaps a well earned break. Working as a volunteer abroad in Tanzania is a very rewarding thing to do on vacation, and you will not only be made to feel very welcome in the country but will likely make lifelong friends, both with other volunteers and with many of the people you are helping. So volunteer in Tanzania and make a difference: to you and to others that need it. kazi tanzania
