Free Online Grammar CheckPosted by Branin on August 11th, 2010 When writing a tough article or document it can sometimes be an issue to catch those tricky grammar errors that often slip by us, in this article I will tell you about some of the free online grammar check websites that I have used successfully in the past to fix common mistakes. Now, these tools do tend miss out on some errors, but for the most part they have been very helpful when reviewing my writings, I hope they can be of some help to you also. Before I mention any Website I will first say the best way to watch your grammar is to read about common mistakes and learn how to correct your grammar before using any other tool, some common places to learn include http://www.betteratenglish.com/, and http://www.grammarbook.com as said before, the tools I'm about to mention are good but they wont catch everything, so it's good to know some of the common rules before you make the mistakes, and alot of it is easy to remember once you have read it. One option that may not come to mind at first, however it may be a good idea to first try your document in Microsoft Word, often the spellcheck feature will find various grammar issues and underline them in green, instead of red. http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/ - The first tool I will mention is spellchecker.net, this Website is extremely helpful and simple, all you have to do is copy and paste your text and click Spell Check to start, a new window will open, displaying your text and various spelling error's (if any) after correcting you're spelling you can click the 'Grammar' tab at the very top to start, spellchecker.net will give you various choices for editing your sentences or words, sometimes you may find it necessary to type extra words or fix additional errors that spellcheck points out. Overall this is a great option for grammar checking, I highly recommend this Website. http://www.languagetool.org/ - Another useful tool that can be very helpful in finding your errors. Being ran entirely on Java, I find this tool helpful because it gives you all the error results in a single list, and tells you what line they are for manual fixing, this program is good when using in addition to notepad program that shows lines and line numbers because you don't always know where to locate the error, which is why I use this program as an alternative choice when grammar checking my documents.
