Vintage Interior Design Trends that are Making a Comeback

Posted by appello interiors on May 21st, 2021

Life goes in circles, and so do trends. We often see retro-style coming back with a twist and touch of modern. Some styles are hundreds of years old (Guess we cannot take pride in being unique, huh?) The comeback doesn’t just stop with fashion. Interior design companies in Dubai often see several old trends making a comeback with a hint of contemporary or latest style. Today we will be talking about five such components that were very renowned some years back and are growing on the millennials and Gen-Z now. Let us see what they are.

Brass

Brass is making a huge comeback when it comes to fixtures, taps, etc. It has been there in the past in one way or another and now it has become the new black. However, interior designers in Dubai are suggesting mixing it with other metals to create a statement look. With a variety of finishes available such as antique, polished, satin & brushed, etc. there are options to suit everyone’s needs.

Cabinets

Turns out, the idea of open shelves and exposed stuff is not for everyone. And hence, cabinets are coming back to keep things out of sight and hidden. Especially in kitchens, cabinets are used the most. The maintenance and amount of cleaning required for open shelves are also more as compared to cabinets.

Wallpaper

Wallpapers of varying designs can be seen coming back. And when we say designs, we mean plenty. Because there are a plethora of options to choose from such as floral, geometrical, abstract, textured, patterned, etc. In short, there is something for everyone. Wallpapers with large designs such as huge leaf patterns are very much in vogue.

Woven Furniture

It is no doubt a very vintage interior design element. However, woven rattan, wicker, and bamboo are making a big comeback in furniture. The ability to match with every style of interior design makes it unique. The colors are subtle, and the furniture is practical for every room. They can even be placed outside in the garden.

Maximalism

This does not mean that minimalism is going out of trend. Minimalism is still here. However, the opposite idea which is maximalism is coming back. It is time to bring out all the old family stuff, antiques which you bought and thought you’d never use them. Throw a couple more pillows on the couch. Decorate with more than one statement piece.

There are a lot more vintage trends that are knocking at our doors, ready to mix with our new designs and splash our houses with a sense of retro combined with contemporary. The aforementioned are the ones that are prominent and can be easily seen in a house. So, if you are looking to bring a vintage touch to your house, these are some of the components that are in trend. We hope this will come in handy.
