6 Main Points for Perfect Terrace Waterproofing

The terrace is one of the most crucial parts of any building since it is constantly exposed to severe weather conditions. Temperature variations develop cracks on terrace surfaces, and rainwater seeps through these cracks. If we ignore roof waterproofing company in Delhi, rainwater through cracks leads to damp patches on ceilings. In some cases, more damage can be witnessed, and there can be water leakages or flooding.

We have seen various failed terrace waterproofing that traditional waterproofing methods had waterproofed. Earlier, lime terracing, Mud Fuska, or brickbat coba used to be applied on the terrace for terrace waterproofing in India. Tarfelt and bitumen were also used. But unfortunately, these old methods are not successful because of the low-grade material available and poor artistry.

  1. Applicable surface for terrace waterproofing

Not all chemicals can be applied on all surfaces.

Most waterproofing contractors in Delhi NCR claim their chemical or membranes can be applied on any surface available on the terrace, which is not valid for most available chemicals. Chemicals should be different for the mother surface of the deck and any other surface on the patio (for example, brickbat coba). If waterproofing application is not being appealed on the mother surface of any terrace, high-grade chemicals with higher flexibility are required.

  1. Repairing of the terrace surface

Repairing the existing surface on which waterproofing treatment will be applied is a crucial checkpoint in any waterproofing application. Since cracks, honeycombing and undulations are usually there, repairing should be done with the utmost attention. If we forget to fill the gaps and apply any membrane or coating on a cracked and uneven surface, the membrane or layer would also be broken and lead to a failure. We should also remove tarcole or bitumen etc. before applies any waterproofing treatment.

  1. Proper Coating Applications

Poor quality and application is the most common cause of any terrace waterproofing failure. Usually, masons and labor do not pay much attention to follow recommended guidelines by chemical manufacturing companies. For example, they may use wrong mixing techniques or a lesser quantity of required chemicals. To avoid such issues, a trained supervisor who knows well about the application process should guide unskilled workers. Lack of supervision or incompetency in applications will always lead to failure in terrace waterproofing.

  1. Accurate Chemical Ratio

The chemical quantity used in any top waterproofing companies in India work provides an estimate of the cost involves in waterproofing. Local contractors can quote you at any price depending on your budget, and to get the job, they may quote you as low as possible since they know they will get their margin by using the lesser quantity of chemicals than required. Waterproofing contractors may show you that they did a perfect waterproofing job by filling water on your terrace. For a while, it may work, but over the period, cracks will be developed due to various issues such as contraction & expansion due to temperature variation, earthquakes, etc. Waterproofing coatings need high tensile strength and flexibility for perfect waterproofing solutions. If less quantity of chemicals is used, coatings would not have desired flexibility to show the ideal result.

  1. Proper Sealing of drainage pipes

You find full damp patches in the ceiling near drainage pipes. Since pipes and cement never stick together and there remain holes that let the water leak in your ceilings. Proper Sealing is required with waterproofing chemicals to fill these holes.

  1. Protect your waterproofing coatings

An ordinary plaster or screed over the roof waterproofing treatment is required to protect your waterproofing coatings. Else, it may be punched or get cracked by movements. We may tell you that a protective layer is unnecessary to reduce the project cost, but if foot movements are their protective layer is recommended, we can avoid it.
