Amanda Bynes wants the fashion world to take her seriously.

The actress — who has publicly struggled with mental illness over the last several years — has resumed her studies at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA, her family’s lawyer, Tamar Arminak, confirmed to Page Six.

“We are all so proud of her, and can’t wait to see her amazing designs on the runway someday,” the attorney added.

Bynes, 29, appears to be keeping her inner circle limited to the fashion world. Earlier this year she attended at a black-tie gala with designer Michael Costello, who tells Page Six that Bynes is focusing on her creativity.

“She knows what she’s doing when she’s sketching,” explained Costello. “It’s nice that she has a true passion for it and it’s not like a hobby.”

The former “Project Runway” contestant said Bynes is ready to leap into the industry and cites her “great sense of style” as an asset.

“I think her strong point is when she’s designing for someone like herself – a girl on the go,” he said. “She’s always either going to castings or a cocktail party or a gala or a fundraiser. She likes to design for the jetsetter and the everyday girl, too.”

Just a year ago the former child actress was placed on a 5150 hold by her parents after allegedly shoplifting from Barneys in New York, but her re-enrollment in classes could signal a new step in her life.

“I think right now she just feels like she’s in the right place,” added Costello. “If not now, when? She never said she wants to take another year off or anything. She’s always been really cool about wanting to go back to school and meeting new people and all of that.”
