Should you buy the samsung galaxy note, 10, plus right now in 2020, nearly a year after it launched and now that the galaxy note 20 is on the horizon? Hello guys, my name is vic with phone arena, and i've been using the note 10, plus on and off for a total of a few months now, and i can finally provide an answer to that question. Getting the note 10 plus in 2020 is definitely not out of the question. This samsung flagship still feels as fresh as the day it was announced and the price has dropped from eleven hundred dollars down to nine hundred and fifty with even better deals, often available. Surprisingly, i also like it much more than the current galaxy s20 series, and not only because of the s pen right here, but also because of the sleek overall design. The extra large display and the standard suite of galaxy note features that make for a truly excellent phone. Historically, the note 10 plus was a big shift for samsung, as it was the first one to drop the headphone jack and the first note device that finally embraced the bezel-less trend. It was also the first galaxy note phone that strayed away from the strict businessy design and spice things up in the exterior with vivid colors for this back here, and this is a design i still find mesmerizing right now by the way consider subscribing if you enjoyed Watching this that's hugely appreciated performance wise. The phone still feels pretty much excellent in any task that you throw at it. Rest assured it can keep up with your most demanding requirements as a user. I would know, since i like to regard myself as a power user. I have often found myself watching a picture-in-picture video while multitasking in split screen mode and while that's an extremely niche thing to do, i have never felt like i'm stretching the galaxy note, 10 plus capabilities pin. On the contrary, it always feels more than ready to be used and abused. The display is another huge advantage of the note 10 plus it has aged well, the colors still look impressive, the maximum brightness under the sun great as well. brush pen drawings find missing is a high refresh rate option. Newer, android phones definitely feel smoother. Because of that, and if you value that buttery smooth experience, you might want to look for a newer device, but for all else, this display definitely impresses and speaking of battery life. The phone comes with a 4300 milliamp hour battery, which was great for 2019 standards, but not quite excellent for 2020 standards, when we now have phones with 5 000 milliamp hour batteries and often larger these days. If i use the note 10 plus, like i really want to, and don't care that much about power conservation, it would last me a day not more. Sometimes, if i really push things hard and use it a lot in the mornings, i'd have to top it up around 3 or 4 p.m. If i want to have any juice left by the evening, that's not great, but it's not bad either and you get used to it and adapt accordingly. There are many phones with better battery life, but many of them cannot match the same feature set as the note 10 plus that kind of makes up for the good, but not great battery life. By the way, did you know that at phone arena we do extensive battery testing on most phones out there check the description box for a link to see the exact battery score for the note 10 plus and how it compares to others. Now the biometrics are another. Just okay aspect of the phone: it has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, embedded in the screen, it's not as fast as the optical ones out there, and it definitely feels slower than many other devices with such scanners embedded into their displays. The accuracy is a bit iffy as well. On the average, i would say two or three out of 10 fingerprint unlocks will require a second attempt, which is definitely a new sentence, of course, nobody's forcing you to use the embedded fingerprint scanner. You can use the face. Unlock feature, but it also only works as intended. Half the time now. This here is not a 3d face recognition, so it basically uses the selfie camera. This makes it a bit slower and not very safe, and it's not working quite as well, when you're wearing any extra apparel or in a position that the face unlock just doesn't really like. So let me be clear, though i really like this phone and that's the reason i keep on using it right now in 2020, but i have to also mention a few other issues. I'Ve had with it. One is a wi-fi connectivity issue some days it will go into network unavailable mode, every 15 minutes or so no logical fix worked for all. I know the note 10 plus just dislikes my home router and at the same time i have hardly ever had such problems with any other phone i've ever used in the house now. This could be an isolated case with my specific setup, but it's a big inconvenience. So that's why i decided to mention it. Another aspect of the phone that i wish was better was the two times zoom telephoto camera. It produces great images and works very well for portraits, but being spoiled by newer flagships. I really miss having a long range zoom. It allows me an even bigger magnification, so with all of these pros and cons, should you buy a galaxy note, 10 plus right now in 2020, let's go over what you're missing compared to newer devices? First is 5g connectivity. Now true, standalone 5g networks are still far from reality and those high-speed millimeter wave connections are only available in tiny spots in just a few cities. What i'm saying is that you're not missing out on much really at least not yet now i've already mentioned the lack of a long range zoom on the camera, and the other thing is that high refresh rate screen is my number one wish actually a 90hz refresh Rate would have made the note, 10 plus simply an irresistible offer, and my second wish would be for a better fingerprint scanner. I really feel annoyed by the current one. However, here's what you get that you won't get elsewhere, a sleek, thin and elegant design that you likely won't get on the newer note 20 series, because they will have 5g and 5g requires more power and then a bigger battery. So it will be a bulkier phone. Now, if you don't like thicker and heavier phones, the note 10 plus might be an even better buy than newer devices for all else. The note 10 plus is an excellent phone with a vast screen, an excellent camera, tons of productivity features and a price that is now quite reasonable. So there you have it our second take on the galaxy note, 10 plus in the context of 2020.. It still gets our big thumbs up, but what about you, have you been using it and what's your experience with the note 10 plus speak up in the comments right below thumbs up if you enjoyed watching subs for more, my name is vic.
