Spiritual education in the west has frequently been taken for granted. Most colleges teach a basic faith to children, and parents often do not pay enough attention to instilling a strong spiritual framework in their kids. Many times, schools focus on rote memorization and neglect to teach children about the interrelations of the human spirit and the world we live in. The center of spirituality is located within the self, so when spiritual schooling is reduced to rote memorization, it becomes less than beneficial. However, there is a new sort of spiritual education emerging which is starting to replace spiritual education all around the world. It has its roots in the work of American sociologist William Phillips and his book, Spirit of succeeding. Phillips argued that many successful men and women are religious beings, deeply motivated to succeed because they have a desire for God. They possess an inner spiritual light that comes through if their souls are exposed to God. They've a vision of God's glory, and they understand how to proceed from the wholeness of the spirit.

Due to the popularity of the Spirit of succeeding, other educators are now beginning to take precedence over spiritual instruction. While Phillips believed that the method where children learn about God ought to be as personal and individual as their own personal spiritual journeys, most modern teachers have yet to catch up with Phillips' notion. They still teach children about God, but they also place God's greatness and power instant. They tell children that though they have an understanding of what and who God is, that they don't need to become Christians only yet. Since they don't fully understand the teachings of Jesusthey must put the"power of God" moment, so that they could provide moral guidelines and facts without putting Jesus or God in battle with one another.

Spiritual educators have noticed that lots of men and women in the contemporary world have lost the ability to connect with their religious beliefs. Many people have been led to believe that all of life is meaningless and there is no meaning in life. The"Gnostic" motion, which was created out of the vacuum, taught that there is no way to gain any type of understanding about God. This caused a wide split between people of different religious and non-religious faiths and created a vacuum which has yet to be filled.

Phillips was born into a family of teachers. He discovered early on that he needed to give a whole lot more than his understanding to achieve his goals. He started to understand that when he was planning to use his wisdom, it would take him to use his mind as well. He had to develop two wings of spirituality: a solid conviction in the existence of a divine force and a strong commitment to social influence.

Spiritual instruction helps us to find that we're part of a plan. It helps to realize that each and every individual is important and that our actions have a ripple effect on the Divine Plan. Our choices affect not only the next person we meet, but the entire Divine Plan. If we follow its instructions, we will have the ability to move forward as fully as we can and find true happiness.

As Phillips started to understand his beliefs more fully, he started to combine the 2 wings of spirituality he believed were necessary in order to move toward true freedom and satisfaction. One of these two wings, the side of faith, enabled him to use his mind for a medium by which he could connect into the soul guides. He can pray to them, get in contact with their messages, and receive guidance in areas of his life that were problematic. The other wing of spirituality, the side of religion, taught him to concentrate on the relationship he had with the celestial, the connection he felt with all beings, and the calmness he felt in his heart. The two wings worked in tandem, and when they did, the actual shift came about.

This connection with the soul requires two things. The first is a private degree, instinctual connection that may be developed through meditation and prayer. The second is an inner discipline that functions to develop the soul and its inherent spiritual virtues. Phillips worked tirelessly to connect his religious education with his spiritual beliefs, and with this endeavor came much gratitude and encouragement from people who heard his thought.
