Well, it all started with that (not quite insulting) commercial. The clear liquid is full of sugars and starches, but minus the fiber structure which could continue to keep these unwanted ingredients from being spilled. This results in the weight percent decrease in the first few days and also the pet will definitely start to lose weight! The animal is not getting the necessary nutrition and so isn't burning off the additional calories.
