Top engineering colleges in India offering world class education

The moment anyone mentions engineering colleges in India, one immediately thinks of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) only. Or the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) who also have a good number of engineering colleges. The NITs were earlier known as Regional Engineering Colleges.

However, the past two decades have witnessed the emergence of numerous privately run as well Government sponsored and autonomously run technology colleges in the country.

The best part about this particular development is that largely speaking it has been a well spread out one with every district and State getting its fair share of engineering colleges. And the individual colleges over time have got themselves into the serious business of imparting technology education nicely.

Of course, there is plenty of scope for improvement. But there is all the same no cause for worry. Most of these colleges have at least one Department going that is on par, in terms of research and academic excellence, with the best anywhere in the world if not superior to global standards.

The positive factor in their favour is that from the very outset they have focussed on competing with the best standards set internationally and not restricted themselves to merely competing with the IITs and the NITs.

For instance, even a city such as Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra possesses very good engineering colleges in the form of the KDK Institute. Its affiliated colleges fulfill requirements that can be expected of a top engineering college.

Benchmarking with the global standards has immensely helped
And this sort of benchmarking approach has only helped them to scale their standards remarkably in the shortest possible time. On the same note, India has always boasted of the best brains when it comes to the pure Sciences and Technology.

The presence of so many manufacturing units across industries and sectors also meant that these engineering colleges in India could always look forward to a highly rewarding campus placement experience year after year for their graduating students. This assurance, purely from the perspective of engineering students is always a huge incentive for any engineering college.

Key features of Indian engineering colleges:

  • They are all well established and benchmarked themselves quite high.

  • They are all accredited to the relevant academic bodies like the NBA (National Board of Accreditation), UGC, and AICTE, etc.

  • The required infrastructure and attractions such as well-equipped labs, central and departmental libraries, a campus that affords conducive learning environment, quality faculty, and enough research, and campus placement interviews are all there.
