Gutters should be checked and maintained regularly because leaves and debris can clog it up, If it gets clogged up, the gutter will overflow causing damage to your wood and metal. Water can even enter your house through the walls if the gutter isn't installed properly.

Also, watch out for mosquitoes. If there is any standing water in your gutters, it can become a breeding place for them.

When you're going to clean your gutter, make sure you have the proper cleaning equipments. Create a checklist so that you won't forget.

Listed below are the materials that you will be needing:1. A sturdy ladder – Don't lean the ladder against the gutter and downspout because you might break or bend it.

2. Wear non-slip shoes or boots, work gloves, safety glasses, and a dust mask – This is to protect yourself from any accidents.

3. Get a narrow garden trowel or hand spade – This is used for scooping out the leaves and debris.

4. Large garbage bags – You can tie the garbage bag on the ladder. This is where you will be putting the debris.

5. A garden hose with a spray attachment – Make sure that you have enough water pressure.

6. Bring a gutter sealant – This is used to repair any cracks in the gutter.

7. A plumber's snake – You will be using this if your downspout is clogged.

Now that you have your materials. Do this step-by-step cleaning instructions.

First, start cleaning at the area near the downspout. Then, scoop out leaves and debris using the narrow garden trowel. Throw the debris in the garbage bag. If there is a solid or caked dirt, wet it down before scooping. When the garbage bag is full, securely tie it then just drop it below.

Second, upon removing all the leaves and debris, clean the gutter with the garden hose. Spray the gutter until no debris can be seen. This is the best time to check if the downspout is clogged. If it is, hose down the downspout to clear any stuck debris. If it doesn't work, use a plumber's snake to loosen and remove the debris out.

Third, when hosing the gutter, check for any cracks because water can leak through it. Use the sealant to repair it. Also, check for any loose screws or see if the gutter is hanging properly. If not, repair it immediately.

If you don't have time to clean the gutters yourselves, you can call a cleaning company that can do it.

HARVEST being one of the most important steps in farming is referred to the cutting & collection process of plantations (generally crops). It is the season when you reap what you've sowed and is expecting to get the best of your hard work.

It's the most awaited period when a farmer expects efficient harvest after all the pre-harvest hard work with minimal harvest loss.

We all know that the harvesting season in India is celebrated with different festivals in different parts of India like Baisakhi, Onam, and Lohri etc. The farmers get the fruitful result of their efforts.

Farmers in India have traditionally been using different kinds of tools like a spade, shovel and sickle etc. Spade/Shovel for digging, ploughing or moving soil and sickle for the cutting of crop. However, the process is cumbersome & consumes a lot of time and manual labour to complete. As with modernisation in every sector, the farming process has also undergone advancements in mechanisation & automation solutions. With different kinds of tools & machines, the harvesting process has become easy, convenient and time-saving. The tools/machines available in the market for harvesting are brush cutter and paddy harvester.

Brush Cutters: A machine that is easier to carry on shoulders with an attached revolving blade for the cutting of crop & a paddy guard to make the cutting process efficient. The machine is generally used by marginal farmers who have smaller farmland up to 1 acre. Also, the machine comes in different variants ranging from 2 stroke & 4 stroke engines in variable engine displacements. Brush cutters also come in electric motor variant whereas electric ones normally aren't very effective in the harvest of crops.

Harvester: A bigger machine that runs on wheels with a much bigger engine, built to harvest crops across a much larger area up to 10 acres. The harvester machine comes in both petrol & diesel engine variants & the price ranges from Rs 80,000 to Rs 2, 00,000 depending on the brand & the model.

Both brush cutter and harvester are highly beneficial in the harvesting process in terms of business efficiency, monetary returns & the consumption of time. These machines can be run single-handedly in a large farming area without employing any manpower and it requires comparatively less time to complete the work. As these are machine run and does not require any bare hand work, turns out to be safer for the person using it.

Let's check out how mechanisation affects the farming process:

THRESHING which is also a part of the harvesting process is done to separate the edible part of the crop spade gaming from the stalks. The manual process of threshing included Trampling, Pedal Thresher or beating the crop in a hardwood/block.

In the mechanised threshing process, it is done by a machine which uses the process of convulsion. Let's check out how mechanisation affects the farmings process:

How is manual threshing different from mechanised?

We hope after reading this blog you will understand how mechanisation plays an important role in the harvesting process. It is always important to have a good yield and maximum harvest with a minimum loss of product, time and energy.
