The Ultimate Guide to The Perfect Long-Lasting Matte Lipstick

Lipstick enhances your smile and adds tons of confidence to your look. Here is a guide to ensure that your favorite shade of matte lipstick lasts all day long.

You’re never fully dressed without a smile, so it only makes sense that your lipstick shade should be the most important and essential element of your makeup look. Matte lipstick is undeniably the most preferred, right from its gorgeous finish to its vibrant hue and easy application, it can take your makeup look to a whole new level. A bold red lip shade can entice confidence whereas a dark purple can create an air of mystery.

Here is a guide to perfecting your matte long lasting lipstick.

  • Exfoliate and moisturize

Long-wear lipsticks tend to dry your skin so your first step is to remove any dead flaky skin. Wash your face and exfoliate your lips gently with either a clean toothbrush or a lip scrub. After you’ve exfoliated, apply your lip balm to your lips and let it sink in for a couple of minutes. Wipe off any extra lip balm as it can make your lipstick slip off and decrease the efficacy of your matte lipstick. Do this by blotting your lips with a tissue until they no longer feel sticky.

  • Apply lip liner

One reason why a lip liner or even a lip primer is preferred is that it helps your Forever52 lipstick last longer. If you have problems with your lipstick fading or feathering then just outline and fill your lips in with a lip liner or use a lip primer. For thicker plump lips you can apply your matte long lasting lipstick right from the tube but for thinner lips, if you want better precision, then use a lip brush. Long-wear shades won’t spread the way gloss or creamy shades would so ensure that you smile or stretch your lips when you apply them.

  • Use concealer to clean up extra lipstick

When rubbing your lips together after applying your Forever52 lipstick if you get smudged or smears then use your stick concealer to carefully cover the smudge and gently tap it in to blend. Never rub as your smudge lines can get worse.

  • Power your lips (optional)

If you want a true matte look then apply a one-ply tissue over your lip and gently tap some loose powder over the tissue with a brush.  Blend in.

The Bottom Line

Matte lipsticks are ideal and look great on any skin tone. You can remove your lipstick with some micellar water and a cotton pad to get it to come off without leaving a trace. Ensure that you take your skin type and color into consideration before picking a shade that goes well with it.

Forever52 offers kiss-proof, long-lasting lipsticks which come in a variety of shades and formulas. These formulas are easy to hold and apply and don’t rub off easily or dry your lips out and can be maintained and look good throughout the day.
