A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to purchase a real hair wig for a fashion buyer with ovarian cancer.

Lollie Herbert, 36, from Altrincham , had just started a new job and moved house with her husband Dale when she was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer on October 8.

Her dreams of having children were shattered when medics found a cancerous cyst while she was undergoing IVF treatment.

Lollie was told she needed to have a total hysterectomy followed by four months of chemotherapy.

Leah, Lollie’s sister, decided to set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to buy a real hair wig worth £1,200.

She wrote Lollie’s hair was “part of her identity” and hoped the wig would make the chemotherapy treatment more easier for her sister.

Leah, of Didsbury , said: “They found it almost by accident as she was going through IVF treatment and as she started the IVF they found a cyst.

“She had an operation as they thought it was just a cyst, but the biopsy came back saying it was cancerous.”

“Finding out she won’t be able to have children has been devastating for her and to add on top of everything else she is going through, the fact that she will lose her hair from the chemotherapy has hit her really hard.

“This is a lot of stress for her after finding a new job and she is concerned about financial things.

“Lollie worked in fashion and takes so much pride in her appearance so I wanted to fundraise a wig made from real human hair for her.”

She added: “Lollie is one of the most beautiful, creative, passionate, clever, kind, fun and loving people that I know and I have seen just how immensely strong she is.

“This cancer has taken so much from her, more than I can describe in words, and some of those things she will never get back.”

Kelsea Little, spokeswoman for GoFundMe.com, said: “Our thoughts are with Lollie during this difficult time. It is incredibly touching to see how many people have come together to offer support on Leah’s GoFundMe campaign, and we wish them all the best moving forward.”

Since her diagnosis Lollie has been blogging about life with cancer using the title A Fashion Buyer’s Guide to Cancer.
