For some people fishing in the late hours of night is a peaceful and appeasing experience. But when has to look out for the fishes, it’s really exciting. People usually prefer fishing at night because there is low fishing pressure. There are not many fishermen who fish at night and take advantages of night fishing and look for different kinds of fishes as not everyone knows how to catch fish at night. One would be amazed to find varieties of fishes even when one is trying to catch fish of a specific variety. So if you are looking to go fishing at night, these tips could be helpful.

-       Underwater fishing lights : There are the most essential fishing equipment for the night time. There are several types of submersible dock lights and other lights that one can use. These lights attract plankton that are the primary source of food for most of small fish species. The most essential fish to look out for and that make the night fishing trip successful are the bait fish. These lights can attract game fishes to your fishing location. When you have a ball or swarm of bait fish surrounding your underwater fishing light, anything is possible. All one needs to do is cast their rigs close to edge of source light and get ready for an exciting night ahead. You can catch any variety of fish you want and have an easy meal. However, without the underwater lights it will be difficult to catch plenty of these.

-       Surface night fishing light : Surface lights are essential not only for fishing but for personal safety too. There are two main areas that the surface lights help in. The first one is personal safety. One must have at least one night light running when you decide to go for night fishing. You need to make sure that the recreational boaters and the other fisherman can see you. A lot of watercraft accidents could be avoided if everyone remembered this single thing. There’s another reason too. The surface light projects across the surface and that attracts various insects and and insets attract baitfish and these bait fish attract more and more game fishes. Ensure that these lights are hung outside the boat so that the insects are not close to you. Ensure that the lights you use reflect light back and across the water as this will keep the insects away from the boat and prevent them from attacking you.

-       Plan in advance : Before you decide to go for night fishing, it is essential that you plan in advance. Make a checklist of all the items that would be necessary. Look out for the areas where you would want to night fish in the evening. Make a note of the location of the areas with the help of landmarks or GPS.
