The Good and Bad Side of Aluminium Welders

When it comes to the working of various industries, there are a number of appliances that come in handy and make their functioning smooth. Thus, business owners, as well as technicians, make sure that they invest good quality tools such that their work is carried out in the most efficient and effective manner.

Aluminium is a metal that often requires special tools and skills to weld. It is lighter and has a much lower melting point than steel. Unless alloyed with other metals, aluminium is only suitable for use in low temperature applications. Conventional steel welding equipment rarely produces the same results with aluminium. However, this versatile metal is now used in a variety of ways. This requires welders to invest in specialised aluminium welding equipment.

Thus, investing in aluminium welders of good quality is extremely important. MIG welders are quite common, but aluminium can be welded with other types of welding like TIG welding as well. However, just like all machines these welders come with their own pros and cons.

Pros
It is a portable welder who can be easily set up without any external help. Being compact in size, this welder is perfect for being used in small and confined spaces as well.

Aluminium welders are quite economically priced. Additionally, it is quite convenient to use them which makes them an ideal choice for both the home and the workshop

Though these are known as aluminium welders, you can also use them to weld steel as well and alloys of other metals. This work as effectively with other metals as with aluminium.

The aluminium welders are extremely user-friendly and easy to use. One does not need extensive training to operate this device. However, a little bit of practice would come in handy.

Cons
The electrode of the aluminium welder is not very durable and you might need to replace it after some time. It is not an easy task and may create some problems.

Aluminium wire, being softer than steel, often gets crumpled. You will need to handle frequent wire feed problems.

Aluminium welding normally requires shielding gasses with higher ratios of argon. Commonly available welding tanks usually have more helium. As a result, you may need to keep a special tank handy for use with aluminium.

Aluminium finds widespread use in industry and in homes. The ability to weld aluminium at home or in a workshop is almost a necessity for welders today. While you can use conventional steel welding equipment, it is best to invest in an aluminium welder.
