Simple Ways to Upgrade Your Family Scheduling Skills

Posted by Sierra Powell on June 8th, 2021

Your family is likely busy with games, schoolwork coming due, extra-curricular activities, doctor's appointments, and so much more depending on the things your family enjoys doing. It can be difficult to keep your schedule organized and then keep your home organized so that it can accommodate the needs of your family. Busy schedules can overwhelm you to the point that you just do not know what to do anymore and you are looking for solutions for the overwhelming schedule. You can make your scheduling for your family much easier though by following the five tips that are meant to help you below.

Create Phone Reminders

Using the calendar aforementioned, you can start setting reminders on your smartphone. You can even set reminders on the phones of those who do have upcoming appointments or events so that they can stay on track of their own schedules. These reminders provide an alarm a day before and even an hour before the scheduled event to help you remember. It is super easy to set up too, especially if you have an Apple phone as there is a whole mobile app dedicated just to reminders.

Keep One Hour Free

If you are able to, try to keep one hour of your schedule free every day of the week. This will help you to be flexible if an emergency was to occur in your family so you are not scrambling to come up with what to do. It will also give you the flexibility for unexpected events that may come up or for even going out with your family for something fun. If you cannot afford to give up an hour of your day for free time, try to give up at least a couple of hours during the week.

Build a Family Calendar

You should start by finding a way to put into place a family calendar so that all individuals who are old enough to do so can put in their time slots. You can use an online calendar that you can then share with every member of your family who has a phone or an email address. If you know that a game or an appointment is coming up, you can easily check the calendar to make sure that it has been added. This will help everyone to be on the same page, and it will help you to feel peace of mind as you know what is coming up.

Let Everyone Have a Voice

The first tip in using the calendar showcases how everyone in your family can have a voice on the calendar. Make sure that you regularly ask for input, however, so you can learn more about what each member of your family does not want to miss out on. Make sure that you communicate about what is happening each day especially with your partner so that you are both on the same page. If you are going out for something, make sure that someone in your family knows where you are in case of emergency.

Say No

Finally, so that you and your family can have a more consistent schedule that does not stress you out, be okay with saying no. You will probably be asked to do favors for so many people. If you do not have the time to do them, however, or if they will cause you more stress on your schedule, just say no. Do not feel like you have to attend every event invite that you are given either, especially if the invite is for something that is not family-related or is not important to you.

You lead a busy life if you have a family that all has a different schedule. Schedules range from knowing your school and work hours in your family to creating times to complete home errands and homework. Schedules also have to include the regular events you have during the week, upcoming appointments, and even special events that you get an invite to. It is important that you do not stress yourself out over these schedules and take the time to make sure your whole family is on the same page to really take it to the next level.
