The powerful storm caused massive damage to many ranchers’ outbuildings. It ripped off hundreds of shingles from the hamlet’s newly restored Catholic church. The community has a plan to fix the elevator. Citizens are working with the Special Areas Board, which administers a vast area in and around Dorothy and the entire Badlands, to raise money for the cost of repairs. But Randall prefers another option.

“I would like to see it stay there just as it is with the roof off. You don’t need to put the roof back on Fuji Passenger Elevator .
