What Makes a Great Workplace?

So what makes a great workspace? What makes a workspace great for the people who work in it and the environment they live in? Workplace design can be broken down into a few different factors. There are lots of things that can suggest to you that your workspace is good, like organization, productivity, a well played out space, and of course those all matter, but the top workspace is always the one that inspires you to get up and go! I think this comes back to a few key factors.

Space

You need enough space to get around in and to move around freely. When you are looking to Buy Workspace Furniture Online Portland without enough space can be closed off, making it hard or impossible to even start. I can't count the number of times I've gotten stuck behind something because the shelf I was working on was just too narrow to fit the whole stack of books I was working on, or the table next to me was too short to reach, or I could go on about how important this is, but we'll talk about that another time.

Organization

I'm talking about the tools you use to organize your workspace. If you haven't thought about this, then you probably have an unorganized work area. Tools like planners, filing cabinets... you name it. You can't have one without the other. In an unorganized work area, everything is spread out haphazardly across the desk, making it hard for anyone to even get started on the task at hand.

Function

This one is pretty self explanatory. A good workspace would be one where you have access to everything you need to get done! This may even mean having a few drawers or cabinets to keep everything organized. Having a functional workspace would be extremely important for most jobs.

Convenience

How convenient are your workspace's amenities? Are they easily accessible from your chair, or is it some distance away that's hard to reach? If it's near the chair, then that would be super convenient, and if it's far away, then that would be super inconvenient! Think about what makes a functional workspace a great one for you.

Socializing

I'm not talking about having a chat board or online forum here. I'm talking about actually having conversations with people in the same workplace. Being able to talk to others about the job, the company, life in general and anything else you'd like to talk about would be super beneficial to you and everyone around you. So think about what makes a good workspace if you want to have social skills!

This one I'm sure everyone would agree on. A place that's fun is a place where you can be yourself, relax and forget about work for a little bit. It's the American way! Some people say a workplace should be working, but sometimes it should be more like a trip to Disney World. Make it a place you go to when you can relax and have a good time. Everyone loves to have fun around them!

This was just a quick list of a few ideas. The more you think about what makes a great workplace, the more you will realize what is really important to you. Do you want more time with friends? Do you want to feel fulfilled at work? Find a place where you can have all this! It really is as simple as finding the place that works for you!

There are literally thousands of ideas out there on how to design your workplace. I suggest taking a look around online or at your local library. You'll find plenty of ideas that can make you or your office absolutely amazing! It's a fun and creative world we live in. The sky is the limit!

If you do take some time to really think about what you really want from life, you'll realize that you'll be happier overall. Life will be better for everyone involved. You'll meet new people, make new friends and have more meaningful relationships. Work is definitely not the end-all and be-all of existence. Make work your top priority and then go have fun!

If you're serious about making your workplace into the kind of place you'd love to work in, remember these two simple things: fun and satisfaction. In your mind, picture yourself working in an awesome space that's filled with friends and family and having a great time. Keep that goal in mind as you begin to develop your office. It won't be easy, but it will be worth the effort. And, remember - if you're not having fun, it's not because you aren't working at all - it's because you aren't making the most of your workspace!
