It is very important to understand that it is your responsibility to maintain firearms safety at the gun range. Target shooting can be very safe if you follow the basic gun handling and storage rules. You need to constantly protect yourself and non-shooters at the range.

Below are some of the simple steps you can take to maintain safety at the shooting range.

Enroll in shooting safety courses

This is the first step to help you develop some safe shooting and gun handling habits. You’ll get to learn from an experienced shooter how to maintain safety at the gun range Orlando M. Take these classes before visiting the range and spend time practicing what you’ve learn so as to make the steps a habit.

Know the rules

Every range has its rules and it is important to know them before you start shooting. If you’ve never shot at the range before, you need to read their rules carefully and ask any questions you might have. Don’t assume that any two ranges are the same.

Wear eye and ear protection

Indoor shooting ranges will require one to wear the glasses and ear plugs at all times. However, this may not be the case for most outdoor shooting ranges. Just make sure you bring both or plan to get them at the range for your own protection.

Consult the range safety officer

If you have any safety concerns, it’s important to ask the range safety officer. Most ranges have one personnel who is assigned the job of making sure everyone is safe. He/she will be happy to answer your questions so don’t be afraid to ask.

Keep your shooting bench clean

You will probably be advised not to put all your ammunitions and guns on your shooting bench because they will create a huge mess. Just carry what you’ll need and if possible just carry one ammunition that you’ll be using. Keep the rest in the bags or at home.

Firearms should be pointed downrange

Loaded or unloaded weapons must always be kept downrange. This is a rule that must be followed in every gun range Orlando shoot straight. If the muzzle is not pointed downrange, you may be thrown out for violating the rules of the  range.

Do not invade someone’s private space

Disturbing people at the gun range is absolutely wrong. This is one of those places where you just have to mind your own business. When someone plugs in the ear protection and starts shooting, they disappear into their own world and the last thing you want to do is disturb them.
