Who is the Kingmaker?

A kingmaker is basically a person or pet who has substantial influence over a political or royal succession, yet they themselves are not a viable candidate. A potential kingmaker may use influential means such as money, religion, political, or military ways to influence the succession around the world. It is believed that during the time of the Roman Republic that the process of succession took place through the process of a kingmaker. Kickoffbet had the right of first refusal. If the potential claimant refused the throne then the person was not entitled to the throne.

Kingship in the early days was hereditary. It was passed from father to son. It was also possible for a female relative to take the throne provided that they had the backing of a male relative. It was mainly the males who ruled to give their children a fighting force to fight against the Romans and other foreign armies. So a mother would generally be appointed as a kingmaker.

As time went by and with the coming of iron technology, the role of the kingmaker changed drastically. The Romans started using the concept of the "kingmaker" to rule over the provinces. A more flexible concept of kingship was introduced in the western world with the establishment of the European Court System, which allowed for the selection of wives by the kings to increase the possibility of their survival when it came to the selection of successors.

In the new constitutional system of Canada, a person does not necessarily have to be related to a direct heir to the throne to become the kingmaker. He can also choose to be a claimant, but he would still have to fulfill the traditional criteria of kingship and be a member of the family of the throne. Only one female member of the family can actually qualify for the position of Kingmaker but she is allowed to alter the system any time she wants.

Kingmaker has a rather tricky role. When he takes over the reigns of his family, he doesn't always act in the same way he would have done if he had kept the traditional rules. The new situation presents him with many different options that he has to choose from. He can keep the family united, appoint a regent to handle the regime, dissolve the assembly and consult the people on how his government should move forward.

He also has the final say on who should occupy the position of Queen Elizabeth II until he settles down and names a suitable regent. The queen is also the head of the Privy Purse, which has an important role in the selection of a potential regent. But perhaps the most important role of the Kingmaker in modern history is that of providing guidance and encouragement to the family of the throne. He may backstab family members who don't support his plans but he also has to provide a loyalist element to the family so that they can ensure the continuation of the monarchy.
