4 Reasons to Visit Lima

There are so many wonders which South America in general, and Peru in particular, offer that most tourists overlook Lima, Peru’s capital. They usually use this city as a stop-over to other, more interesting destinations. Recently, however, there has been a renewed interest in this ancient, intriguing place.

Located on the coast of Peru, Lima was officially established in 1535, but has been occupied by people for much longer.  Given its long history, it’s not really surprising that there are several interesting things to see and experience here. Let’s look at the top 5 reasons to visit Lima.

1 - The Food

One of the best things about Lima is the food. People staying in a luxury hotel in Lima, Peru often venture out solely to discover the cuisine. There are several interesting dishes here, including the famous ceviche. The region’s cuisine has been influenced by the Spanish, African, Chinese, Japanese, and other such cultures. As we mentioned before, the city has been around for several centuries and the architecture reflects that. It holds the largest collection of pre-Columbian art and artifacts in the World.
