Three ways to change your Netgear Routerlogin password

Access the Routerlogin page using the Netgear login IP address. In case the IP gateway did not work, use a web URL. If you are still facing any issue accessing the Routerlogin page, then try www.routerlogin.com web URL. After that, you will be able to access the login page of your router successfully.

Suggestions: - Before you change the Router login password power cycle the devices. Remove the router, modem and computer from the power outlet. After that plug back in and turn it on. Reset should be the last option to bring your router to the default configuration. The reset can be implemented using the reset button on your router for ten to fifteen seconds.

Method one: -

Changing the router password on Netgear Genie

  1. Launch an Internet or a web browser from the computer connected to the router's network. You can either use a wired or wirelessly connected.
  2. Into the Addy of the web browser, type any one of the following URLs. And then hit enter.
  3. You can type routerlogin.net or www.routerlogin.net.
  4. Simply enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 if nothing works.
  5. At any point, if you change the URL for your router from one of the default addresses above. You have to type in the URL as configured or created by you. 
  6. Now, you should type in the current username and password into the fields provided on the Routerlogin login window.
  7. The default username and password for your Netgear Genie router are "Admin" and "Password". 
  8. You can now see the user interface for your Netgear Genie Router. Tap on the tab labelled “Advanced”.  And then hit on the “Netgear nighthawk Setup” tab given on the left side of the panel.
  9. Click on the “Wireless Setup option. Here you should delete the current password. It is mentioned next to the field labelled “Passphrase” or "Security Key".
  10. After deleting the previous password, type in a new password that you like. Then click on the tab labelled “Apply” at the top of the Wireless Setup page. 
  11. The admin password of your Netgear Genie router has now been changed and saved.
  12. If you own a dual-band Netgear WIFI router having 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands. Change the password in each respective section further under “Security Options.”

Now you have to exit out of the Netgear Genie router admin interface. If you have had any wireless devices connected to your router, then you will be required to log in again using the username and the password that you have updated just before. 

 Method Two: - 

Changing the Admin Password on Older Netgear Routers

  1. Connect a computer device to the router's local area network using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open a web browser on your computer using the network you have connected to.
  3. Into the address bar of the web browser, input the login URL routerlogin.net. You may enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 and hit enter.
  4. We use the IP address in case the In-Built web domain does not work. If you have replaced the URL or the IP address at any point, use the replaced URL.
  5. Now, you have to enter the customized username and password into the fields required. 
  6. The Netgear router’s default username and password even for your old Netgear router are the same as “admin” and “password,” respectively. 
  7. The Smart setup Wizard program will appear on the computer's screen. After logging into the user interface, click on the tab labelled “Wireless Settings”. It is located just below the “Setup” section in the left pane of the Smart Wizard.
  8. Again, delete the existing password from the field labelled “Passphrase”. It is located just below the section of “Security Options."
  9. Provide a new password of your choice into the security field on this section.
  10. Click on the “Apply” button given at the bottom of the window. After that, click on the “Logout" button.

The password for your Netgear router has now been officially changed.

Method Three: -

Reset Netgear Router to factory default settings

In this method, you have to reset the entire settings of your router to the factory default settings. This will erase all your configured settings.

Important Note: - Be prepared to take back your data before you perform the reset process.

  1. Find a reset button that will be embedded on either side or at the bottom of your Netgear Router.
  2. Pick a paperclip of a reset pin to press and hold the reset button for ten to twenty seconds.
  3. After that, your router will reboot automatically and will be configured to its default factory settings.
  4. Now you may log in using the default username and password of your router.
