If you have not been to the British Virgin Islands yet, you have probably missed out on the most astonishing place in Europe. This might not be a proverb but it is the truth. The British Virgin Islands need to be on your bucket list of places to visit at least once in your life. The beaches are simply pristine, the sands are golden and the people are simply amazing. What more can you want from a sailing holiday in the Caribbean Sea?

Located to the east of Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands are simply amazing for a sailing holiday. All you need is a boat and an adventurous heart. You may sail from Puerto Rico or simply get on a yacht in the Virgin Islands themselves and go around the many beautiful islands that dot this British territory. There are options for even adventurers who have no idea of sailing or have never sailed before.

The main islands of the Virgin Islands archipelago consist of four relatively bigger islands:

Tortola: This is the largest island as compared to the other islands, besides they are also densely populated. The bustling capital of Virgin Islands, Road Town, is also located on this island. Being an island covered with mountains, Tortola is heaven for those sailors who also love to trek. You can leave the sea behind for a few hours and lose yourself amidst the wonderful mountains.

Anegada: This is the second largest island of the archipelago and also the only non-mountainous island of the four and the most sparsely populated. Tourists flock to this delightful coral island all through the year. Being a coral island, the long pristine beaches here are excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving. The 18 miles long Horseshoe Reef, the largest in the Caribbean region, is also a part of this island.

Virgin Gorda: This is the third largest island and is famous for its ‘Baths’ – huge boulders are located on the south side on the beach of this island. Just north of the Baths is the island’s yacht harbour, which is also a major crowd puller.

Jost Van Dyke: Being the smallest of all the four islands, this one contains both beaches and mountains that point to the Islands’ volcanic origins. If you enjoy being surrounded by nature, then this island will suit you well. There are quite a few secluded beaches that are great for couples on the lookout for some alone time.

Among the many sailing trips that you can cover while you are on your sailing holiday are the ones from Virgin Gorda to Marina Cay, from Marina Cay to Cane Garden Bay and from Road Town to Cooper Island, besides many others.

Whatever be your type of holiday, a sailing trip in the Virgin Islands will revive your senses and bring your family together like no other place on earth. The diverse natural beauty and the amazing serenity of the beaches will soothe your soul and make you want to live here forever. Check out the various websites that offer some great deals for groups, families and also for couples.
