Newbridge is really a small tourist village in the Central West of NSW that welcomes visitors and campers. Newbridge was founded as a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. More hints developed round the railway line and station that was built in 1876. Newbridge is a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available over the river. A point of pride for that town, the community have kept the structure beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won a number of awards first of the finest presented stations in the state. One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside a dynamic and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to see some of the displays in the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery in the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge. The Newbridge Winter Solstice is often a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place on the street (closed for the occasion) and also on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has contains magic shows, Viking fighting displays within the afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one inside afternoon and another for that night), horse display, street entertainment along with other activities for the younger people. There is going to be drink offered by the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness and also other merry-making fortifications as well!). There will be ample food to match everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls as well as the Pub. Most people will probably be dressed in Medieval Costume to increase the merriment. The highlight of the afternoon festivities is going to be the lighting and burning of the Wickerman around the large bonfire at 5pm. People are encouraged to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems on the tag and later on throw them around the fire to get them burnt away!
