Modernize Your Bedroom with a Cool Looking Platform Bed

Some people might surmise that the Middle East is where the East meets the West in the spirit of balance and harmony, but human-beings have a tendency to get confused about such things, so let’s stick to something simple, like where to lay your head down at the end of the day. Sleeping and dreaming are some of those common denominators that we all share, like being born, eating, thinking, feeling, wondering, longing, loving and the true surrendering that brings us all together, even if it’s only for one moment. Since sleeping is responsible for about one third of our common experience (unless you’re one of those enlightened insomniacs), how we sleep and where we sleep is worthy of our attention. In other words, if you can’t afford an orthopedic or ergonomic bed, then at least keep your spine straight and limber by stretching it with Hatha Yoga or some other related practice, such as swimming.

The platform bed has a long history, dating back to those cryptic Egyptian pharaohs and their fondness for heavy stone. Back then, they had enough common sense not to bother with box-springs, so they kept it simple with a frame off the floor to avoid dirt and nasty little critters. Unlike the pharaohs, the common folk placed something cushy on top of a sturdy surface that had enough space underneath it to air things out. As you can imagine, life was simpler at this time. Since then, life has become more complicated for obvious reasons. However, if we ignore the ignorance of the Industrial Revolution and all the synthetic silliness that followed, then you can see that there has been a consistent underground and over-ground movement with one intention: to fuse the wisdom of the past with the intelligence of the present, so that the future can take care of itself.

This may seem like a lame metaphor, but the platform bed may be construed as a hearty symbol for the natural human impulse to marry the past with the present in order to create a better or healthier future, where we can love and sleep in peace, no matter where one lives or who your ancestors are or what season it is. At the end of the day, we all have to find a way to create a safe haven for the night, where we can re-generate our bodies, our minds, our hearts, and our spirits, and one of the best places to do that is in bed. In light of all these considerations, the modern platform bed may be the ideal option, and if that’s not possible, then sleeping directly on Mother Earth, with a blanket to keep you warm, may be the most nurturing option, if you know what I mean
