How Does One Come Up With A Budget For A Remodeling Project?

Posted by NARI Dallas on December 25th, 2015

This happens to be one of the toughest questions to answer by anyone who is looking into remodeling any portion of their home. Most people really do not know what a realistic budget is for a master bathroom, kitchen, or the renovation of any other space in their home. Yet, this is the most important part of the decision making process when embarking on a new remodeling journey.

The most valuable part of a home happens to be the kitchen and master bathroom, and these spaces greatly impact the value of your overall home.

My rule of thumb for determining a working budget for a homeowner looking to invest in a remodeling project of their kitchen or bathroom is to simply base the budget for one of these projects on 10%-15% of the value of the entire home.

However, all of that being said, it is critical to understand that you get what you pay for. Your home is truly a valuable asset that you can increase the value of by making the right decisions about the quality of the products you choose to use and the quality of the work that is being done.

By doing this you can increase the value of your property significantly, with a return on your investment when the time comes to sell. Not to mention the joy that you will get on a daily basis from an amazing transformation. By making the smart choices your renovation can be considered an investment, rather than a band aid or a trendy fix.
