The Green Vehicle Trend

Translation: Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. is offering up its Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle (amazing name, I know) for pre-order starting April 22, Earth Day.

True, electric cars are trending upward. If you have been planning to go with the trend, here is a list of electric cars for 2011, as reported by car manufacturers, news sites, and blogs.

If you're not ready to take the plunge and buy a hybrid or electric vehicle, there are many gas-engine cars that get very good gas mileage. For small cars, the mini cooper (28 city/36 highway) gets you the most miles for your gallon. If you're looking at midsize or large cars, you should check out Hyundai. The Elantra gets 27 city/34 highway, and the Sonata get 24 city/34 highway. If you're looking into station wagons, the Pontiac Vibe and the Toyota Matrix both get 30 city/36 highway.

Nissan LEAF. Not bad. Sort of looks like an early generation Prius with a custom back end. The price tag for the SV package was listed as ,780, while the SL package was ,720. The SV includes a photovoltaic spoiler, rearview monitor and universal transceiver. Range is 100 miles. Due in California in December.

Battery operated or Electric Vehicles work with a six or twelve volt battery that is rechargeable by using a wall charger adapter.
