A satellite tournament is some minor competition or an event based on a reasonable sporting tour or one of a cluster of such competitions that formulate a series played in the same country or a region. In skilled tennis, satellite tournaments are the 4-week tournaments, usually planned by a country's national tennis association and are managed by the International Tennis Federation. They are played by the players who are placed outside the top few hundred by the Association of Tennis Professionals, with lead-ins for the not ranked players in the succeeding draw.
